Furniture decoration: Acrylic can be used to make components of furniture such as tabletops, cabinet doors, and drawer panels. For instance, the drawer panels of a dressing table are embedded with acrylic mirrors. When pulled open, they can reflect the top light and illuminate the details of cosmetics. The edge of the coffee table is finished with a mirror finish, creating a visual effect of "virtual and real interplay" with the glass tabletop, adding a modern and fashionable touch to the furniture.
Lighting fixture design: Cut acrylic into various shapes to make lampshades, lamp bases and other lighting fixture components. For instance, acrylic mirrors can be cut into honeycomb shapes and assembled into lampshades. The light refracts through the mirrors to form star-shaped light spots, which not only serve as lighting but also as decoration, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere for the home environment.
Indoor partitions: Acrylic can be used as an indoor partition material, dividing the space while maintaining a sense of transparency. If semi-transparent or colored acrylic sheets are used to make partitions, they can not only separate areas but also allow light to pass through, making the space brighter and more spacious. Moreover, they can be carved or laminated according to design requirements to enhance the decorative effect of the partitions.
The field of art and culture
In the transparent acrylic rooms of the Water Art Museum: Designed by Japanese architect Junya Ishigami, Tangchen New Materials has created six indoor transparent acrylic rooms, covering a total area of approximately 235 square meters. These independent rooms are like transparent bubbles, supported by acrylic, creating an independent and pure space that offers visitors a unique artistic experience.
Nike 2025 CNY retail store Installation: In the Nike 2025 Chinese Year of the Snake retail store, the designer used traditional Chinese red acrylic as the main color and added red gold and red orange color contrasts to create a warm, festive and lively New Year atmosphere. The serpentine shape of the three-dimensional part is made of acrylic sheet. By using laser engraving technology, traditional patterns are replicated on the acrylic surface. The dense and sparse arrangement of the coin patterns echoes the texture of the snake scales, serving as a medium connecting traditional colors with modern vision.
The "Return" installation at Hangzhou Huanglong Hotel: A giant dragon composed of 1,328 pieces of fluorescent acrylic is carved with dragon scale patterns through a CNC machine tool. The designer creatively deconstructed and reorganized the shape of the jade pendant. The acrylic dragon is transparent and bright, with red patches as embellishments. When the built-in light source is activated, the verdant acrylic sheet at the dragon's spine contrasts with the fluorescent color of the dragon's body, providing a contemporary interpretation of the traditional cultural image of "red dragon holding a candle" in materials science.
Transportation and industrial fields
Automobile interior and exterior: Some cars use acrylic materials for instrument panel covers, center console trim strips, door interior panels, etc. Its good transparency and gloss can enhance the luxury and technological feel inside the vehicle. In terms of car appearance, some concept cars or modified cars use acrylic to make the body shell or components. For instance, the luxury sports car exhibited by LEXUS at the Milan Design Week was made of acrylic sheets to create a transparent body, attracting much attention.
Aircraft and ship components: Acrylic has high strength and weather resistance, and can be used to manufacture aircraft Windows, instrument panel covers and other components, as well as ship portholes, cockpit control consoles, etc. It can meet the usage requirements in different environments while reducing the weight of the components.
Long Lifespan and Recyclable
The durability of acrylic is among the best in its category. Under normal daily usage conditions, its service life can easily reach 10 years or even longer. This is in sharp contrast to many other materials - those materials often fade, turn yellow or even deteriorate in a short time, while acrylic can maintain excellent clarity and color integrity for a long time, always looking as good as new.
What's more worth mentioning is that acrylic is a 100% recyclable material. This feature not only effectively reduces resource waste but also minimizes the environmental impact of materials throughout their entire life cycle to the greatest extent. For this reason, acrylic has become an increasingly popular ideal choice for enterprises that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and pursuing sustainable development.
